Østerdalslaget was a predecessor to the Nord Hedmark og Hedmarken Lag. It was a social organization for Americans whose families came from Østerdalen in Hedmark, Norway. This is part of the area of interest of NHOH. Our best information is that Østerdalslaget was formed around 1910. One of its chapters, a ladies auxiliary in the Twin Cities, continued until 1971. We have collected some old records from Østerdalslaget. These include historical records presented to us in Sept. 2000 during a visit to the Ramsmoen Museum in Tynset, Hedmark, Norway. The records obtained in Norway and from sources in the US include the following: Østerdalslagets Mindeskrift. 1913. Volume I 17 p. (photocopy) Østerdalslagets Mindeskrift. 1914. Volume II. 88 p. (photocopy) Østerdalslagets Mindeskrift. 1917. Volume III.. 235 p. (photocopy) Østerdalslagets Mindeskrift. 1920. Volume IV. 186 p. Østerdalslagets Aarbok. 1923. Volume V. 102 p.(photocopy) Østerdalslagets Aarbok. 1925-1926. Volume VI. 160 p. (photocopy)
Additional records found at the Glomdalsmuseet in Elverum have been obtained by member, Torill Steivang. She is scanning or photographing them and making them available at the following link.
